The 2013 North American International Auto Show is still a little ways off. It is still 2012 last time I checked. The doors of the 1 million square foot Cobo Center will not open for the show until January 14th, 2013. January 14-15th  mark the press preview followed by the industry preview January 16-17th, the charity preview is on the 18th and the show opens to the public January 19-27th.

Here at mich.com we are excited for the show but we have not really been doing too much to prepare for its arrival. GM, on the other hand, has been busy at work. Today GM released a teaser video for the most anticipated new vehicle attending the show: the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette.

We know that the new C7 Corvette will remain a front-engine, rear-transaxle sports car with a glass hatch out back. You should see some big updates to the exterior design of the car and the cockpit will likely get a complete overhaul. Some of the biggest changes the C7 however, will be found under the hood. GM had spent over $1 billion dollars building a new facility to produce the fifth reincarnation of the legendary small-block V8. Expect a small decease in displacement, a small increase in power, and large increase in efficiency. The higher efficiency will likely come from high tech features including direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and cylinder deactivation. Look for the starting price to remain around the $50,000 mark.

Along with the 2014 Corvette, GM also released the below picture of the next generation Chevy Silverado which will be released December 14th, about a month before the North American International Auto Show begins.

The North American International Auto Show is one of Detroit Biggest yearly events. The annual Detroit auto show dates back to 1907. Stay tuned for the massive amounts of hype sure to come as the 2013 North American Auto Show inches closer.
